Jax 3

Daniel 8/7/11

My game review! 11

This Is It... The last stand..... The final game In the entire Jak and Daxter series........ Jak 3!!!!!

Banished, left for dead, but this precursor legacy refuses to be forgotten. 5 years after Jak ll, Jak is exiled to the wastelands for killin' everyone with his Dark Eco powers. All Jak had was a homing beacon that his ally gave him, a nutty bird-monkey named Pecker, and Daxter. When Jak woke up he found himself inside another city named "Spargusville". Let's see how he is doing, shall we?

Story

When Jak woke up in Spargusville, he met a freakishly large, tough guy called Damas: King of Spargusville. Pecker was unfortunately his new advisor. He said in order to be a resident of Spargusville, he must be victorious in 3 extremely, tough arena fight matches. As he is walking towards the arena gate, he remembers the end of the Metalhead Wars.(Oh boy! A flashback!)Torn tells Jak that some of the Krimzin Guard DethBots were working with some of the surviving Metalhead Lurkers. The Krimzin Guards have a new leader...

After the battle, Jak meets a monk girl named Seem. She tells Jak the worst nightmare imaginable, is called into Jak's world, and threatens to recreate it with the limitless Dark Eco. (Hmmmmm..... that's excactly what the main villian Gol set out to do!) Only Jak can save the universe now. After fighting some Wasteland Metalheads Jak discovers a transmission device dropped by one of the Metalheads. The transmission looked very familliar. It looked like the face of Eroll from Jak ll, but the voice sounded like Gol from the first Jak and Daxter game. Seem told Jak that something called the "Day Star" shall destroy Jak's world with limitless darkness (You know, remember Gol had a master called the "Dark Maker" once, but it died long ago? Maybe he is the main villan?)

The K.Gs and the Metalheads working together, a new main villian, a lot of questions and no answers. This game just keeps getting better and better! It's time for the final war against the Lurker forces with secrets around every turn, all leading up to the shocking (and somewhat upsetting) truth of who the Precursors really are.....

Strengths 'n' weaknesses

Okay! Jak 3 is easier than Jak ll. So that means you can get through the game easier and a good thing too! This is the best Jak and Daxter game I've played so far.The good news is, the secrets are cheaper and the Precursor Orbs are easier to get. I recommend you get LOTS of them. All of the secrets are really good, including the Infinite Dark Jak Power! It costs you 50 Orbs in Jak 3, while in Jak ll, it costs you 135!!

They also added a new Eco! Now, there are three types you can collect. The first Eco is Green Eco, then Dark Eco, and then most powerful Eco of all... LIGHT ECO! (Yes! the legends were true!! Light Eco exists!!!) With Light Eco, you can transform into LIGHT Jak! One of Light Jak's powers is Light Flash Flood. With it you can stop time with a clap of the hand! You also have a Light Shield! But be careful while using it! Your Light Gauge drains quicker than normal, if the Shield is used. You can also fly with Light Jak! Time your jumps carefully for maximum flight. You can also use your Precurseor Guns in Light Eco form!

You also have a new Dark Power! It's called Dark Boomer! Hold the R1 button to charge, release to throw. The longer you hold the button, the farther it goes! But unfortunatetly, they replaced the Dark Invincible power with It. You even have a Dark Invisiblity power! You also have Dark Bomb and Dark Whirlwind from the second game.

The best part is, you get gun UPGRADES in Jak 3! There are 2 upgrades for each gun. Here they are in order:

Scatter Rifle. Wave Flexer: With this upgrade you can fire small dark precursor energies. Charge the beam up for a bigger stronger blast. Plazmite R.P.G.: This sucker Is one of the best upgrades in the game if not THE best. It fires powerful Plazmite Bombs which are able to obliterate a pretty sizeable crater in K.G. Deathbot armor. REMEMBER! Your upgrade ammo counts up to your main gun ammo, so use it wisely!

Blaster Grenede. Beam Reflexxatator: (Wow! Some of these guns have weird names!) This upgrade is like the Blaster Grenede, only its shots don't flame on contact. Instead the bullets bounce off surfaces! (Even though it may backfire sometimes) Gyro Burster: This is one of the Better upgrades. It launches a saucer that fires metallic shots of Nucli-Precursor energy, destroying almost everything in sight. But be careful, it drains a LOT of ammo.

Vulcan Gunner. Wield Arckker: a very good gun upgrade. This beast delivers a MASSIVE shock attack that devastates Meatlhead lurkers and even causes double damage to Krimzin DethBots! Needle Shooter: This is an average upgrade. It fires three Semi-Precursor spikes that unfortunatetly go randomly at any Lurker or Darkkness in sight, sometimes exploding on contact (Just like in Halo 3!)

Peacemaker. Mass Invertator: delivers a mass reducing field around any Lurker leaving them weightless, giving you a chance to anihalate them. Very useful. Supernovva: The mother of all weapons!!! Even standing 12 metres away from it is an absolute death sentence. It launches a Mini nuclear device, the equivalent of 20 Peacemaker blasts combined, that leaves behind a giant mushroom-cloud explosion that can destroy anything and everything on the field of battle.

Bosses 'n' such

There are only 3 bosses in this game and they all take a hell of a long time to get to. In one of the missons you fight a sort of "Mini Boss". You've got to take out an abominated Precusor artifact tainted with the Darkkness. The Darkkness are some of the most demonic beings in the Jak and Daxter series. You must deactivate it before time's up. In one of the later battles, you must fight a downgraded model of the Precursor Robot final boss from the first game! It's a good thing it's a past model, so it is weaker.

One of the other bosses is the new leader of the Krimzin Guard. Once a Human, now a Lurker. He also has some of the Dark powers that he harnessed from the strength of the Day Star. I won't tell you more than that 'cause you'll see it all for yourself!

That's all folks!

You can get a used copy from E.B Games if your lucky enough, or you can just get the game on Ebay. You should be able to find it. That's it for this review! I hope you liked the Jak and Daxter series. So long!

Super Paper Mario

Daniel 6/6/11

My Game Review 10!

Listen, I don't think that I'm gonna get Jak 3 anytime soon. My memory card is kinda full of saved games and data, so I can't save my game on Jak ll. So instead, I'm going to review another game that's just as good. Super Paper Mario.

Super Paper Mario comes 5 years after Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door. (T.T.Y.D. for short) The story tells of a bleak future where a new enemy comes into play and it starts to go around destroying all dimentions. Mario (plus Peach, Luigi, and... Bowser?!?!?) are the only ones who can stop him...

Story

Part 1

The Dark Prognostocus.

Ahem. Today, I shall tell you the story of the lost book of prophecies. This book was a mysterious tome full of future events. Many have craved to read this strange book wanting a glimpse of their futures. But nobody who read this book ever found happiness... The tome was full of dark and powerful secrets not meant for mortal eyes. The book eventually came to be known as the "Dark Prognostocus". (Try saying THAT 3 times fast!) It was then later sealed away because of it's immense darkness. But one man who was so desperate to glimpse his own future had released It. The Dark Prognostocus said that all reality will be detroyed by something that was known as the "Chaos Heart". The heart was said to have the power to resurrect a dark, all-consuming energy known as "Subspace". (Remember? IT'S FROM THE SUPER SMASH BROS. SERIES!!!) This tale is about the Dark Prognostocus and it's counterpart, the Light Prognostocus. It is a tale of love.....

Part 2

Five Years Later...

Five years after that event in T.T.Y.D., Peach woke up one morning only to find herself next to the new enemy inside his fortress, which is in Subspace. The enemy's name was called Count Bleck. Bowser was standing next to Peach wearing a white tuxedo and Peach was wearing a wedding dress. I'm pretty sure you know what's happening next, riiiiiiiiiight?..... C'mon, you don't know?? Allright, I'll tell you...Um..Yeaaaahhh... Uh. Uh. Uh...P-P-P-PEACH AND BOWSER ARE GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Audience gasps in X-treme horror!) That's right! Count Bleck made Peach and Bowser get married! It said so in the Dark Prognostocus, "The marriage of a fair princess and a ferocious king will call forth the power of the Chaos heart". So it is written. Luckily Luigi was watching the whole thing, but before he could do anything, the Chaos Heart's power ate the entire chapel and everyone in it, except the important guys. They had to be spared. Everybody's memories were wiped out, except those outside the chapel. The first part of the dark prophecy was fulfilled... Back at Mario's house, Mario and Luigi were having a nice mellow day. Nice and quiet until, Toad came over with terrible news. Peach was kidnapped..... BY COUNT BLECK!!! (Dramatic music cue) Unfortunately, Luigi's memory got destroyed from that flash that ate the chapel back in the intro, so he didn't know that Bleck captured her. So, they went straight to Bowser's Fortress and scolded him. But then, Count Bleck appeared out of nowhere and captured ALL of the guys that were there, Except Mario! When Mario woke up from that subspace attack that Bleck unleashed upon him, he met a strange, butterfly-like creature called a "Pixl". She said her name was Tippi. (Cute, cute name.) Tippi said that she and the entire REALM needed his help. She said Count Beck was beginning to reconstruct the Subspace and in time it will destroy all dimensions. The Dark Prognostocus said so. Later, She took Mario to her homeland called "Flipside". She said it was a town created by her Master Merlon's ancestors known as the "Anciants". (You meet up with some of their spirits later in the game) But Flipside and it's counterpart, Flopside, were not a dimension at all! They were a place BETWEEN the dimensions. Tippi's Master Merlon, said that Mario must find eight mystical artifacts called "Pure Hearts" as told in the Dark Prognostocus's counterpart, the "Light Prognostocus". It tells of 4 heros that will revive what is known as the "Purity Heart" to counter the Chaos Heart. The heart was later split into eight separate pieces called Pure Hearts, which are being guarded by the eight bosses. Mario was the leader, which meant HE had to stop Bleck from tearing the realm apart. And so, with Tippi and a few other Pixls by his side, Mario set out on his riskiest, toughest, most calculating mission yet. With a mysterious dark presence tracking their every move......

Strengths 'n' weaknesses

Pretty long story, huh? Thanks for bearing with me, 'cause now we can finally move on. I tried to recreate the intro in the game as best as I could in part 1 of the story. I also added a few changes of my own, but for now let us speak of the Strengths 'n' weaknesses paragraph. You start off with a "Return Pipe" that Merlon gives you. This Pipe transports you back to Flipside Tower from afar. There are also new power ups as well. Such as, Pal Pills, Supershroom, Ultrashroom, and "Speed-up" and "Slow down" flowers. There is also a Mega Star which is pretty much the same as the Rainbow Stars from the other games, only this time it turns you into a giant and 8-bit. You can smash everything in sight! Including Pipes! In the first chapter, Merlon's loony friend, Bestovious, bestows onto you the interdimentional power of flipping! You can flip into 3-D with it. You can find hidden objects, items, and doors in 3-D, but some of the stuff you need to find is in another dimention BESIDES 3-D. So, try to use Tippi's power on the screen. Try to do it while in 3-D, as well. You never know what you might find if you look carefully! This game is full of perplexing puzzles and treacherous traps. So remember, things aren't always what they seem. If you are having trouble, look up the walkthrough that I will be mentioning at the end of the review. There are also different types of Pixls that help you along the way. The first one is a "Hand Pixl", called Thoreau. With his um, "handiness", he can allow you to pick up and throw objects to defeat enemies and bosses, access secrets, and press certain buttons that you could not normally reach. This Pixl is much needed in the first boss, Frackktail. Another Pixl you find is an "Explosion Pixl", called Boomer. (Makes sense right?) With him, you can blow up certain objects and access secrets. He is one of the strongest Pixls. The next one is named Slim. He's a "Pivot Pixl". When you have him, you can pivot your papery body so you can appear to be invisible! You can use this to your advantage in the second world, "Merlee's Mansion". There are security systems that you need to get past, so you can use Slim to pivot yourself to get across. But STAND STILL!!! You will get hit if you move into lazer walls or spikes while moving. The last Pixl I'm going to tell you guys is called Thudely. He can let you ground pound. With this ability, you can push down pillar-like buttons, or regular switches. He is the second strongest Pixl in the game. Remember though, you can only use one Pixl at a time.

Bosses 'n' such

Well, let us move on to the next part of my review, the bosses. I'm only going to tell you about 3 of the bosses in this game, because some of the bosses contain important information that could spoil the game for everyone that is reading this revew. The first boss in the game Is called "Frackktail", guardian of the second Pure Heart. (Merlon gave you the first one, so you could unlock the first world) Dimento, one of Count Bleck's men, damaged Frackktail and the blow mysteriously turned him to the dark side and became the first boss. Here is my strategy on how to get past him. After he goes to the right, flip into 3-D and dodge his charging attack. Then, jump onto his body where his blind spot is. Next, you must throw tiny cyborg pixlits at his core, which are located on his head connected to his hard-drive. Hit him 20 times and you beat him. The second boss is one of Count Bleck's minions, the master shapeshifter, Mimi. You fight her in possibly one of the most disturbing moments in Mario history, (Besides Birdo). Count Bleck put an invincible shield, powered by the Chaos Heart, around her. You can only hit her by finding Merlee somewhere in her mansion. The highest room of success is the girls bathroom, which is somewhere in the basement. (Oh come ON!!! the girls bathroom door is the BOSS DOOR?!?! you can do better then THAT Nintendo) The third boss is a geek lizard named Francis, who steals Tippi. He has Flashbangs with him, so he can blind you. He can also eat you with that long tongue of his. Every time he chews you up, you take 1 hit. Shake the Wii controller to make him spit you out. He also summons "meowbombs" at you. Meowbombs are just bob-ombs in the shape of cats. (Lame!) You can throw them at Francis when he's visible.

That's all folks!

This game is actually still in stores! Only it's hard to find because it's a 2007 game. Try to look for it at EB Games or somethin'. Normally, I would review the rest of the series, but I only have this game. I think I'm going to review Jak 3 some time after beating Jak ll. I just got my new memory card to save my game, so the review will be coming soon.

Well, that's the end of another review. Oh, and one other thing, try to save up for the Mega Man Zero Collection game. It's got all the Mega Man Zero games In one! Well, so long folks.

Portal- Joseph

Portal is a game where you must solve puzzles using portals that objects, including yourself, can go through. It was made by Valve, a company based in Australia. The thing that makes Portal unique is that it combines a first person shooter with a puzzle solver.
Plot
The story is that you're in a testing facility owned by the company Aperture Science, testing a gun that creates portals. The only problem is that the computer that controls the facility (called Glados) went rogue and killed everyone that worked there except for the test subject (you). So obviously your objective is to destroy it.
Puzzles
The first few tests are easy to solve but they do get hard very fast. To make it even harder there are many obstacles, most of which can kill you, such as turrets and acid pools.
Replay ability
The game itself isn't that big. In fact there are only nineteen levels. However the later stages are very hard. The problem with puzzle solving games is that once you solve all the puzzles there really isn't any point to play it again. There are a few extra levels though.
I would recommend this game to people who like a challenge.

Minecraft- by Joseph

Minecraft is an indie sandbox game that was created in May of 2009 and has become very popular. It was created by Markus Persson (commonly referred to as Notch) and his company Mojang AB. It is currently in its beta version and is to be released as a full game in November 2011.
Plot
There isn't much in the way of story yet but what there is so far is this:you wake up on a beach and you have nothing.
Game play
When you start a new game it's sunrise and basically your goal is to gather enough resources to build a small house before nightfall, but if you don't manage to do that then you're in for a fight because night is when monsters come monsters come out .Once you do have a house you can then go explore cave, the reason you want to is to get better materials such as iron and diamond!
Nether
The Nether is an alternate dimension basically a Minecraft hell .As the name suggests it's not a fun place, however you can get some cool materials there.
Different Ways to Play
Like all games there is always a way to change the game play .If you do want a break from the standard
there's many texture packs to change the way it looks and mods (which is short fr modifications) to change and add things to the game.
Multiplayer
You can also create and on servers with other people.
I would recommend this game to anybody.

My game review!

Today I'm going to review my first game ever: Death Smiles!

Firstly Death Smiles is in my opinion one of the best games I know! it is a psychotic horror bullet-hell "shoot em' up" (S.H.U.M.P. for short) game developed by one of my favorite game developers, Cave. Cave is known for making EXTREMELY HARD S.H.U.M.P. games and I've got two of them. It's an arcade game where you have to fight of massive swarms of demons and what not. It all begins when a group of young high school girls mysteriously travel to the undiscovered country of Gilverado which just so happens to be a demented clone of Israel. The trouble all started when a young girl named Sakura and her father Bloody Jitterbug came to Gilverado when a giant power awoke inside of him, transforming him. Later on he opened up a portal of mystic revealing light which led to Hell itself and he began summoning demons from it. Your job (I just love this part!) is to stop the giant demon invasion from spreading to the real world. Sounds challenging, right? Well it is on the harder settings. It's not your ordinary Cave game. This time instead of scrolling upwards you scroll sideways, and sometimes the demons come from behind you! Sometimes on the harder modes there are so many bullets on the screen that even the Xbox 360 can't support it! But the immense lag does make it easier to dodge those bullets. You also have a killer bomb attack that damages everything on screen!

One of the weaknesses is there are no lives, JUST HEALTH!!! But you do get a lot of it in MegaBlackLabel mode. Speaking of MegaBlackLabel mode they have extra stuff you can unlock and extremely enhanced difficulty!!! But one of the most notable of all that stuff is that you can unlock and play as the young witch girl Sakura herself! (see second paragraph)The bosses are also very notable. For example, the first boss is a giant bull demon that has big blocks that shoot enemy bullets floating around it. The second boss is a giant demon-possessed zombie head named Jordan. (JORDAN??? REALLY?!?!?) In its second form, your attacks sear Jordan's flesh clean off, leaving nothing but its creepy looking skull!!! Even though the game is relatively short, there are lots of reasons to go back and play it again and again because, there are many different modes and styles and there is a different ending every time!

Death Smiles is truly a must-have for anyone who likes massive swarms of bullets and demons!
